Crushed and washed whelk shells to take your house or patio plants to the next level! These are a great alternative to grit, look beautiful when used to top dress pot plants, can be used to improve drainage in soil and are also a useful slug deterrent in the garden.

The Small bag contains approximately 3Kg of shells and is ideal for indoor plant pot and terrarium top dressing - great for cacti, succulents and most houseplants.

The family fishing firm of Shell on Earth catch whelks locally in West Wales using traditional pots, a low-impact method of fishing that creates minimal damage to marine habitats. Once cooked, the meat and shells are separated and the shells are then crushed and cleaned another three times before being dried. Finally, each bag is individually packaged and hand-tied.

Packaged in a reusable and fully recyclable paper bag.
